DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
1. Undergraduate course in English(B.A English) was started in the Academic year 2007-2008.i.e., the same year when the college was started.
2. Post Graduate course in English(M.A English) was started in the Academic year 2012-2013.
3. A proposal has been sent to the Bharathidasan University, Trichy-24,to start M.Phil and Ph.D course in English.
4. From the very Inception of the college(2007-2008) Mr.J. Domini Amalraj has been heading the department of English and is still continuing to be so.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
IGS (Interested Group of Students) Programmes were conducted in 2015-2016 for the students of the Department of English during the odd and Even semesters onthe following dates 7/8/2015,11/912015,3/3/2016,22/1/2016,25/2/2016. Various competitions were conducted with a view to enriching the literary knowledge,improving the language proficiency and honing the creative skill of the students. The competitions include, Elocution Extempore, Tongue-Twister, Debate, Newspaper Reading, Quiz, Paper presentation,Poetry recitation, Story-Telling, Film Appreciation, Drama, Sentence Making on pictures, Synonyms and Abbreviation. The students actively participated in the events. The winners were encouraged with prizes. English Literary Association was conducted by the Department of English on 16/3/2016. The Principal Dr.P.Kulalmolial presidedover the function and rendered the Presidential address which was highly motivating Prof.J.Dominic Amalraj H.O.D of English delivered the welcome address. The Chief Guest, Dr.M. Angayarkan Vinayaka Selvi, Assistant Professor of English Bharathidasan University delivered the key note address on the importanceofLiterature, Literary criticism and Literary Theories. It was highly informative. Dr.Hilda M Thenmoli proposed the vote of thanks.
Mr.J.Dominic Amalraj
The Ph.D viva-voce of Prof.J. Dominic Amalraf took place on 18/3/16 at St.Joseph's College Trichy and was duly declared eligible and recommemded for awarding Doctoral Degree in English. He Published an article in Hermes, a biennial magazine published by the PG and Research Department of English.St.Joseph's College(Autonomous), Trichy-2, the title of the article being Ecocriticism in Kurunthogai. It was published in March 2015.

Dr.Hilda M Thenmoli presented a paper entitled "A Study on Partition Perspectives of Bhishma Sahnis Tames" at the ICSSR sponsored National seminars on partition Literature and its Relevance to contemporary India-14th March 2016 at Periyar E.V.R.College, Trichy.
Dr.R.Karthika Devi
Dr.R.Karthika Devi presented paper at National Seminar-1 International Conference-1 Publication of a chapter in an ed.book-1,presented a paper on the novel slash written by Jeannette Armstrong, a canadian Aboriginal writer in the International conference on canadian studies at St.Joseph's College,Trichy. Presented a paper entitiled Armstrong's Whispering in Shadows:An Eco-Text in the National semiar conducted in Annamalai University. Published a research article entitled "NativesVoice in the words of Campbell Exploring the Unexplored edited by Dr.Karkuzhali.
